Description: Opportunity at intentional community near Union Square consisting of 25 diverse, inter-generational members. We are looking for a temporary to permanent chef. Temporary chefs will work Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Duties include daily shopping and meal prep for 30 diners. Our meals consist of one vegetarian and one non-vegetarian entree, one or more sides, a salad (home-made dressing) and dessert. Dinner is served at 6pm. Chefs usually arrive around 2pm, but hours could be earlier depending on one's level of efficiency. The daily pay is $125. The permanent position could include more duties, which would result in commensurate pay. Since sharing meals is at the heart of our community, we are looking for someone not only with a positive attitude but also a strong environmental and nutritional awareness to his or her cooking practices

Volunteer Opportunity
The Urban Zen Foundation, in conjunction with the Palette Fund, Amanda Archibald, RD and Stefanie Bryn Sacks, MS (a graduate of The Natural Gourmet) is offering a series of ground-breaking, inspirational workshops focused on educating the Urban Zen community and beyond on navigating and restoring health through food.
The series consists of one-day workshops presented over the course of 2010. Each workshop will focus on a specific hot health topic that advocates dietary change as part of the healing plan. Panel discussions led by experts in the field, practical hands-on learning—in the kitchen—and food education activities are a vital part of this life-changing workshop experience.
