A Sampling of Alumni Job Listings

The following list is not currently active, but represents a sample of the types of job listings available to graduates of the Chef's Training Program at the Natural Gourmet Institute.

Location: Upper East Side & East Hampton, NY
Position: Private Chef
Description: Private New York Upper East Side family seeks a well-experienced full time Private Chef with availability to travel.
Responsibilities include:
• Creating fresh seasonal meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) for a full time schedule
• Coordinating weekly menus and meal plans
• Event production for social and work-related client gatherings, political fundraisers,
philanthropic events, special occasions, holidays, etc.
• Flexibility with scheduling; 5 day work week, inclusive of weekends, with two consecutive
weekdays off
Salary:
$70,000-$110,000 per year
All salary offers are Depending On Experience, References, and the results of Federal
Background Report
Benefits:
Full non-contributory benefits package, effective after 90 days
Requirements:
• Degree from accredited culinary school, classical cooking background, restaurant experience
• Excellent references required from both current and previous employers
• Minimum 5 years related experience working as a Chef in a private residence
• Strong command of English language
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Exceptional organizational skills and dedication to responsibilities
• Flexible schedule; able to travel with family to Hamptons during summer months
• Must be OK to work with both children and pets
• Valid drivers license is appreciated
• Valid passport; willingness to travel internationally as needed
• Valid US work authorization

Location: Basking Ridge, NJ
Position: Part-time Chef
Description: Opportunity at organic store for candidate who is passionate about healthy eating and cooking with natural foods. Flexible hours.

Location: Brooklyn (Greenpoint)
Position: Baker
Description: Full or part time opportunity at espresso bar with housemade sweets and savories. Position involves in-house production of loaf cakes, cookies, bars, brioche with seasonal, local ingredients as well as housemade jams/preserves, compotes, purees, etc., all made with natural,mostly organic ingredients. Ideal candidate is efficient, reliable, self-motivated, has professional experience and a food protection certificate. Full time: 30-40 hrs/wk-early mornings a must. Part time: 16-20 hrs/wk-early mornings a must. $12-$14/hr.

Location: Central Valley, NY
Position: Private Chef
Description: Full-time position planning and preparing all meals for family of 6 with food allergies. Diet should include juicing. Full, gourmet kitchen with Viking stove. Client will purchase any additional equipment Chef feels is necessary.

Location: New Haven, CT
Position: Vegetarian Deli / Salad Bar Prep
Description: Immediate opportunity at vegetarian natural foods store and cafe/bakery. Kitchen and bakery are all kosher. Family owned and operated for over 30 years. Position is part-time, but can lead to full time for the right person, and there is room for growth. Applicants must be able to create and follow recipes for the all-vegetarian cafe. Salary based on experience.

Location: Bayside, Queens
Position: Personal Chef
Description: Prepare flexiterian breakfasts and dinners for a family of 5. Mon-Fri from 7am-11am.
Position can last a long time for the right person.

Location: Rockville Center, NY
Position: Line Cook/Sous Chef
Description: Opportunity at 30-seat vegan-friendly restaurant. Ideal candidate will have basic knkowledge of vegan and vegetarian cuisine plus knowledge of Italian cuisine. Must be able to run the kitchen when the head chef is not there. $110-$150/shift.

Location: Tribeca
Position: Private Instructor
Description: Vegan cooking instruction for woman with 2 young children. Flexible dates. $50/hr.

Location: San Francisco
Position: Assistant Pastry Chef
Description: Opportunity for candidate with restaurant experience at upscale, well-known vegan restaurant. Must be able to handle both pastry production and line work. Must also be a quick learner and able to accept constructive criticism. 4 days/wk to start. Full time likely with a few months.

Location: Soho
Position: Entry Level Cook
Description: Immediate openings for entry level (Garde Manger) cooks to join the team at a Jean-Georges restaurant serving French/Mediterranean cuisine. $11/hr + benefits.

Location: Long Island City
Position: Garde Manger
Description: Work for one of the fastest growing natural foods companies in NYC. Opportunity to grow and prosper with this company. Cuisine is ALL RAW and ALL VEGAN. Learn to make several entrees, salads, dressings, sauces, cheeses, desserts and much more. Full time position with great starting rate. 9pm-5am shift.

Description: Immediate opportunity at unique, 60-seat restaurant. Eclectic menu -- some vegan and vegetarian.

Location: Morristown, NJ
Position: Chef Consultant
Description: Develop a recipe for a veggie burger that will be featured at a new burger franchise start up. Other projects to follow.

Location: New Hope, PA
Position: Sous Chef & Line Cook
Description: Opportunity at 50-seat gourmet vegan restaurant focusing on seasonal, local ingredients.
Requirements:
*line cooking experience

*knowledge of vegetarian and vegan cooking techniques and ingredients
*ability to work very fast while being neat and organized
*team player with no attitude or ego
*dedicated, reliable, flexible -- able to work days, nights, and weekends

Location: Princeton, NJ
Position: Chef Instructor
Description: Conduct private vegetarian and high protein vegetarian cooking classes for mother and daughter at their residence. Start date is flexible.

Location: Upstate NY/Catskills
Position: Chef/Manager
Description: Opportunity at upstate inn with organic produce farm, store specializing in regional, artisanal products and 40-seat cafe serving healthy food. Create menu focused on seasonal, organic foods, cook, manage kitchen and have a passion for sustainable farming and locally produced food. Must be comfortable cooking meat. Nothing too fancy -- just great, simple "country Inn" food. Experience preferred.
