Who doesn’t like to party on the beach? Nice sea breeze, play a little volleyball, soak up the sun a trip to the beach is usually one filled with fun. However, with limited vendors or vendors with overpriced food items and drinks, it is better if you go prepared yourself. To store your snacks and drinks, you will definitely need a cooler, one that can keep your drinks cool throughout the trip and have ample room to store cold snacks also like sandwiches and even fruits.

When going to the beach, you don’t want to carry a gigantic cooler in your hand. You want one with wheels which you can easily drag along and carry when needed. We tested a few and have picked out the 5 best beach coolers with big wheels.

1. Igloo Maxcold Ultra Roller Cooler

Igloo is starting to become a household name thanks to the Maxcold Ultra Roller Cooler. It not only keeps your drinks and snacks cool and secured. It also, is easy to transports thanks to its big adjustable handle and wheels.

The Maxcold Ultra Roller Cooler comes in three different sizes: 40, 50, and 60 quarts. Depending on the usual amount of drinks and snacks you require you can choose one that is suitable for you.

The cooler is slightly heavy at about 16 pounds when empty, so you throw in the ice, cans, and whatnot it can add up. However, it shouldn’t really affect you much since you won’t be carrying it. It does have handles on the side, if you feel the need to carry it.

To keep food and drinks cold, Igloo has ensured extra insulation in the cooler which doesn’t allow heat to travel in. You can get about 4-5 days of ice retention from it. This cooler offers performance and quality.

2. Coleman, 100 Quart Xtreme 5 Wheeled Cooler

Are you throwing a massive party at the beach? Coleman has you covered, with the 100 Quart Xtreme 5 Wheeled Cooler. The cooler can hold up to 160 cans so you can easily provide drinks for bigger parties. When it’s completely filled you have two ways to transport it, you can either carry it by the two handles but who would do that when you have handles to tow and big wheels on the cooler. So no worries when its full and weights over 40 pounds, its towing mechanism is sturdy with strong wheels and handles so you can easily roll it away.

When it comes to performance, the 100 Quart Xtreme 5 Wheeled Cooler does not disappoint. It has Coleman’s signature Xtreme feature which provides exceptional insulation in the lid and case. It can retain ice in 90 degree F temperatures for up to 5 days, that is just mind blowing. It has a drain so after you are done partying you can drain it with ease. The only flaw we found with this one was that but we would have like the wheels to be slightly bigger so they could easily go over bumpy surfaces.

3. Rubbermaid Extreme 5-Day Wheeled Ice Chest Rolling Cooler, 75-Quart

The Rubbermaid Extreme 5-Day Wheeled Ice Chest Rolling Cooler, 75-Quart is a massive cooler that provides good ice retention while holding up to 5 cases of cans. This is with the help of its massive size at 16.9 x 33.3 x 19.4 inches. To make movement easy, it has rugged wheels which can easily go over rocks.

Rubbermaid claims that the cooler can hold ice for 5 days in temperature up to 90 degrees F. We tested it out for 4 days and there was plenty ice when we checked. Like a lot of big coolers, the design is quite simple, which is something we feel companies now need to work on.

4. Coleman 42-Can Wheeled Soft Cooler With Hard Liner

Our Rating:

We selected the Coleman 42-Can Wheeled Soft Cooler With Hard Liner at number four to bring some diversity into the list. Okay, not really. Its performance and design bumped it up in front of the hundreds of other coolers in the market.

The 42-Can Wheeled Soft Cooler With Hard Liner may seem small in size due to it not being bulky but don’t let that fool you. Like the name states it can hold up to 42 cans. It has quite a lot of storage space with numerous pockets inside and on the side of the bag. Being a soft cooler, it is lightweight and even when full it doesn’t measure up to an
y of the hard coolers in weightage. That is why the wheel is slightly smaller than what you would find on hard coolers. But the size of the wheel is proportional to the size of the bag so even when full you can easily tow it along without any problem.

5. Igloo Glide PRO Cooler

The Igloo Glide PRO Cooler is the heaviest and biggest cooler on our list. It provides extra cooling with the help of Ultratherm. Igloo claims that the cooler can retain ice for 5 days with temperature almost touching 100 degrees F.

The Glide PRO Cooler could have easily been a spot above but due to its weight, which means more effort to tow compared to the other coolers on the list. However, the handle for towing has a slide and lock functionality so when you tow it won’t move around and does make it slightly easier to move.

Our list was dominated by Igloo and Coleman with two cooler line from each. When it comes to durable coolers with wheels then both Igloo and Coleman shine. So whether you are throwing a huge party or a small gathering at a beach, our list can help you. So enjoy the sun and be sure to wear sun block to avoid sunburn.
