Why The Ninja Air Fryer Is My Go-to Kitchen Appliance

As a busy full-time working mom, I’m always looking for an easier and faster way to prepare healthy meals for my family – but not at the expense of taste or flavour.

The Ninja Air Fryer

So when I was offered the opportunity to review The Ninja, an air fryer that claims to do this impossible thing (and even more), I knew this would be a gadget I’d love to own.

I received my Ninja Air Fryer a few weeks ago and it has been a busy time, what with school runs, sports activities and work commitments – but I have finally managed to test this product several times over the past two weeks.

Features Of Ninja Air Fryer

The way it works is really quite simple: food is placed into the machine and then cooked at super hot temperatures for a short time to ensure everything is cooked through without being too crispy.

But the real advantage is that it uses little or no oil, so food cooks fast and retains its moisture – which you can’t do in an oven or even using a fryer pan on your stovetop.

And it’s versatile…

So, apart from frying (or should I say air frying) you can roast, barbecue, bake or even make kebabs in The Ninja Air fryer – anything that would ordinarily be prepared using an oven or stovetop pan

Less fat…

This is why I love my Ninja Air Fryer. It gives me back some “me time”. I can prepare a meal in as little as 10 minutes with no mess, no fuss and it’s healthy.  I can make anything I want: fish, chips (yes really), roast chicken, roasted vegetables and even desserts like cake and custard – all without using any oil or fat!

That’s not to say you won’t get crispy food. You will with the Ninja, but it’s not deep fried; you can make delicious and healthy chicken nuggets in around 10 minutes with hardly any oil and my kids love them (recipe to follow).

Saves time…

For me, the biggest appeal is that I don’t have to pre-plan or prepare food ahead. If we arrive home and I know we’re going out in an hour, I can still prepare a meal in the time it takes to get ready.

Temperature control…

The Ninja Air Fryer is really just that: a fryer and oven combined in one machine – but with health benefits. That means you can roast, grill, toast and even bake your food – and you’re not limited to just one or two pre-programmed functions, there are absolutely no limits to what you can cook.

Crisp and even frozen fries…

I love that I can make a roast dinner in less than 30 minutes (perfect for those of us who go away at weekends), chips in under 10 minutes (yes really) and cakes and desserts in even less time.

I was a little bit nervous about the “air frying” element when I first got started, but it is brilliant and creates virtually no mess in my kitchen. In fact, when I cooked a whole chicken the skin was crispy on the outside, yet moist on the inside – better than if I had roasted it for hours!

Perfect for vegetables…

The Ninja Air Fryer also has a steaming function, which I have been able to use for cooking fish and vegetables. Both turned out really well considering they were prepared in about 15 minutes total – from fridge to plate!

vegetable baskets in rack

Nonstick removable tray…

I used the non-stick surface several times, as well as the grill function – without any issues or complaints. The cooking basket is also non-stick, making it easy to clean.

Easy navigation…

There are preset cooking functions on the dial of the machine for some common foods, but you can go manual if preferred, so there’s no need to preheat or defrost food first. Just put your ingredients in and cook! Simple as that.

The machine is big enough to cook for my family of four, with a decent amount of space inside. I’m told that the Ninja Air Fryer is the same size as many conventional ovens, which means it will fit in most kitchens without taking up too much work surface.

The appliance itself comes with three accessories: tongs, a grill rack and baking/drip tray. You can buy additional accessories too, such as a steaming basket, oven rack and even a cake tin, so I’d recommend looking at these in-store before making a decision.

Dishwasher safe and easy to clean…

I give it a big tick!

The tray and accessories all come out and can be placed in the dishwasher, so they’re really easy to clean. The outside of the machine is wipe-down too, making this kitchen gadget quick and simple to use.

What Are The Benefits Of The Ninja Air Fryer?

There’s no preheating time, so you can prepare a meal in record time. It takes up less space than an oven and is great for small kitchens. You can cook meals faster than you would using your oven or stovetop – it really is “set and forget”. There are no dangerous fumes, so it’s safer than cooking with oil. You can cook healthy meals quickly and easily without fuss!

Is The Ninja Air Fryer Any Good?

Yes! The Ninja Air Fryer is an easy way to save time in the kitchen because it heats up faster than a conventional oven. It’s also versatile, compact, and a cost-efficient cooking option – all in one!

Frozen French Fries

  • Frozen French fries (follow instructions on box to cook)
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil

1. Cook the French fries according to package instructions until golden brown and crispy, about 10 minutes. While the potatoes are cooking, combine the Greek yogurt, basil, garlic powder and salt in a small bowl; mix well. Transfer the potatoes to a large bowl and toss with olive oil until well-coated, then transfer them back into the fryer basket, leaving one batch of French fries in the oven.

2. Coat the remaining batch of French fries with Greek Yogurt mixture and place them back into the Ninja Air Fryer for an additional 10 minutes, until crispy and golden brown.

3. Remove the fries from the oven, transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy!

4. Once you’re ready to cook, toss the chicken in the sauce one more time, then place the wings into your Ninja Air Fryer and cook for 15 minutes.

5. While cooking combine the rest of the sauce with the chicken wings, sprinkle with green onions and toss until well coated.  Place back in the air fryer for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until crispy and golden brown.

I bought my Ninja Air Fryer about 6 months ago.  The first recipe I tried was the Parmesan Garlic fries – what a success!

I’ve since tried many more recipes, but hands down this is my favourite kitchen gadget. It’s so easy to fry or bake everything from hot dogs and burgers, to salmon cakes and chicken wings, without all the added oil.

What Can You Cook In A Ninja Air Fryer?

You can cook everything from appetizers to desserts in an air fryer. I’ve tried out many recipes, but here are some of my favorite dishes you can cook:

  1. Frozen French fries
  2. Boneless skinless chicken breasts
  3. Bacon wrapped asparagus spears
  4. Hot dogs
  5. Salmon cakes/patties (I use mustard, egg, and crushed chips for my breading)
  6. Cauliflower casserole – simply add cauliflower, broccoli, cheddar cheese, and ranch seasoning.
  7. Pizza rolls – Prepare by cutting pizza dough into circles; add desired toppings (I use pepperoni, sausage, onions, green peppers, and extra cheese)
  8. Potatoes au gratin – Simply peel potatoes and slice in thin strips; boil until tender (about 20 minutes); sauce with rue and milk, then add cheese; bake until bubbly.
  9. Meatballs
  10. Chicken wings (I like to use Frank’s Red Hot sauce with melted butter)
  11. Fish filets (You can substitute cornmeal for bread crumbs)
  12. Zucchini fries – I dip the zucchini in a batter of egg, salt, and pepper to add flavor.
  13. Onion rings
  14. Egg rolls – Simply fry up your favorite filling (I use ground pork) and place it inside a Chinese wrapper along with steamed veggies; serve with Asian dipping sauce.
  15. Garlic parmesan French fries
  16. Reheated leftover pizza

The Ninja Air Fryer is now my must-have kitchen appliance, particularly as I love cooking for my family, but don’t always have enough time to prepare their meals using traditional methods.

The Ninja Air Fryer has really opened up a whole new world of cooking possibilities to me and it allows me to cook healthier food for them without taking too much time or effort.

In fact, I’ve been getting my kids to help me cook using this machine because it’s easy enough for them to use too – they actually enjoy cooking now! The only problem is that I’m going to have to buy a second one soon as my children keep fighting over who gets to cook the next meal!
